When Lily Evans was 6, she received a heart/double lung transplant in Michigan. The journey before, during and since the transplant has been full of challenges, even causing the family to leave their home, families and church to move to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in order for their now 8 year old daughter to get the post transplant care she needs. The family has given up a lot so Lily can get the best medical care possible. We want to surround this family with our love, support and encouragement as their journey continues to be a difficult one. So, we felt led to channel our efforts towards raising funds to help the Evans family make a rent payment.

The EKF fundraiser at Mulberry Elementary in Muscatine, Iowa is now finished. This school may be small but they have huge hearts. The students and staff started bringing in coins, bills and checks on March 25. The final tally came to over $2900!  This is such an amazing accomplishment is such a short amount of time. Way to go, Mulberry Elementary! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Special thanks and congratulations to Mrs. Timmons 4th grade class for raising the most money of any class at Mulberry.  Funds raised through your efforts will be used to provide direct support to families in need.

    Transplant Recipient- Christy Farley

    (CNN)

    – Every morning, Christy Farley rises from bed and feels relieved.

“Not a day or minute goes by where I don’t think about how lucky I am just to be here,” said Farley of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. “I thank God every day when I wake up that I woke up.”
